And How Does Truth Contribute to Our Understanding of the Myth We Call Reality
We are delighted to invite you to an intimate Colorado Chautauqua Style Jeffersonian Dinner — an evening where people and minds converge, ideas flourish, and our collective discourse transcends the ordinary.
This inaugural event will be the first in a planned series of evenings dedicated to exploring a range of interesting, relevant, and maybe even provocative topics.
The gathering will be hosted by the Colorado Chautauqua in collaboration with Joshua “Jefferson” Taxman in the Meadows Room.
Our shared goal is to engage individuals with curious minds, and various backgrounds in a fascinating conversation (over a delicious dinner and, of course, inspiring spirits) - that explores a single issue through the unique perspectives of our guests.
For this inaugural event, please join us for a lively and thought-provoking discussion around the meaning of “truth” in today’s charged socio-political environment.
Josh Taxman and Shelly Benford, CEO of the Colorado Chautauqua, will serve as hosts and participants. The Honorable David Goldberg, Judge for Colorado’s 2ndJudicial District, will join us to moderate and facilitate the discussion. Brad Weber, Director of Partnerships and Community at Chautauqua will oversee the event.
Throughout the evening, twelve attendees will focus on a single conversation related to the concept of “truth.” Please come with considered thoughts on the evening’s topic. You will have the opportunity to speak to the group from your seat at the table, for three to five minutes without interruption. After guests have shared their thoughts, the moderator will suggest follow-up questions to encourage intellectually stimulating dialogue and foster a deeper understanding of the topic, and hopefully each other!
For suggestions to prompt your thinking, please see some potential ideas at the link below. Feel free to take inspiration from this list, or simply draw from your own perspective and experience as you prepare your remarks.
